Musical Acoustics
Innovative Methods and Tools for the Sound Design of Organ Pipes

The main objective is to solve practical problems concerning the voicing of labial organ pipes, and to develop innovative methods and tools for helping the voicing adjustments and sound design work of organ builder SMEs.

Numerical and experimental study on the sound generation in the flue organ pipe

The project aims to advance the current understanding and to get a sound generation model with which we can simulate the actuel flue pipe as accurately as possible.

Innovative Design Method for Matching the Pipe Organ to the Acoustics of the Room

The main factor influencing the competitiveness of the organ builder SMEs (Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises) is the quality of their pipe organs. Perhaps the most important quality aspect is the matching of the pipe organ to the acoustic properties of the church or concert hall.

Development of an innovative organ pipe construction method

The manufacturing of pipe organs is a traditional European industrial sector, which ought to be preserved. Yet, innovative contruction methods and technologies can be applied in daily use without jeopardizing this precious tradition.

Development of innovative wind systems

This research project aims at a more reliable and top-quality design and production of wind systems for pipe organs and the consequent reduction of costs.

Research of traditional wind systems of organs

Towards the end of 2000, an EU-funded research project of 12 organ builders from 9 European countries in cooperation with the polytechnic of Ostfriesland and the University of Edinburgh was completed successfully.
